The Monitor for Circular fashion presents the Report 2022

SDA Bocconi | November 29th

The second year of collaboration between Dedagroup Stealth and the Sustainability Lab of SDA Bocconi through the project "Monitor for Circular Fashion" ends with the publication of the Report 2022.

The scenario will probably change for a market crucial for the "made in Italy." The European Union is designing a new regulatory framework that could affect the fashion industry. The Monitor for Circular fashion wants this new report to depict the challenges companies face.

The Transition Pathway for the Textiles ecosystem has to consider four key issues:

- Boosting new circular fashion models and the EU production and consumption of sustainable and circular textiles
- Creating the shift to sustainability: and refashioning our consumption patterns.
- Facilitating textile waste prevention, waste management, and secondary materials
- Investing in innovation for new and advanced materials and processes.

The European Commission's Strategy for Sustainable and Circular Textiles measure includes a mandatory EU Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme, the eco-design requirements for textile products, the actions to tackle microfibre pollution and greenwashing, and a new Digital Product Passport

For 2022 the main research areas of the Monitor for circular fashion are: How to make good sustainability claims and which are the key eco-design principles and how they can be implemented.

The Monitor for Circular Fashion is a multi-stakeholder project involving leading companies in the fashion sector and actors in the supply chain with the scientific contribution of the Sustainability Lab SDA Bocconi and cross-vision Enel X industry for the identification of circularity KPIs. The Monitor for Circular Fashion welcomes virtuous companies and spreads good circular fashion practices, enhancing technical, managerial, and scientific skills to contribute to the transition to circular business models.

Coordinated by prof. Francesca Romana Rinaldi, this year the community entered the heart of the issue through pilot projects designed to build real circular economy models applied to the fashion sector.
Inspired by the Sustainability Pledge promoted by UNECE, the Best Practices of traceability and circularity will be applied to meet the innovation needs of Brands.
Eco Design Mapping, Waste Management, and Regeneration are just some of the tools used to measure the framework suggested by the EU.
